Bodybuilding and fitness icon Joey Swoll has been making content on gym positivity for a while now. Having dubbed himself the "CEO of gym positivity", he is a staunch advocate against people mocking others in the gym.
Meanwhile, he also tries to boost the morale of those who attempt to make gyms a more welcoming place for everyone.
In his recent social media post, Joey Swoll reacted to a video of two creators on their weight-loss journey that he stumbled upon while scrolling. While one of them was struggling to properly do bicep curls, the other one made sure to correct his friend. Even though the video was scripted, Swoll really liked the message that the creators were trying to convey.
"I know this is staged, but I absolutely love this video. Love this message. This is what we need more of in gyms. If you ever see somebody that's struggling, maybe they're new to the gym, maybe they don't know what they're doing, you have two options. Option one, politely go up to them and ask them if they want help. If they say yes, then help them just like this."
"If they say no, then respectfully, just walk away. Option to mind your own business. Filming somebody to post on social media to make fun of them is never an option. And don't forget, at one point in time, we were all new to the gym and didn't know what we were doing. So Jacob Brian, thank you for such an incredible video. Good luck on your weight loss journey."
Joey Swoll once got a fitness influencer banned from a gym
About a month ago, Joey Swoll witnessed a video of a man filming a woman at the gym and mocking her for her size. Immediately standing up for the woman, Swoll made a video on the same and also ensured he got the guy's gym membership suspended.
“Yesterday, I was sent a horrible video of a man filming a woman in the gym to make fun of her size...I immediately sent it to 24 Hour Fitness. One day later the video has been removed and his membership has been revoked,” said Swoll in an Instagram post.
