Eddie Hall, aka 'The Beast', has achieved many remarkable feats in his career and has won many strongman titles. But apart from his impressive winning streak at the UK's Strongest Man Championship, fans love the Beast for achieving the deadlift world record back in 2016.
The former World's Strongest Man lifted a whopping 1,102 pounds at the World Deadlift Championships held by Europe's Strongest Man and became the first man on Earth to accomplish this feat.
Hall uploaded a video of himself lifting the immense weight on his official YouTube channel, and the crowd was seen madly rooting for the Beast, hyping him up for his lift.
However, displaying the exceptional strength Strongman requires had severe consequences. Eddie Hall felt like the lights were going off and fell unconscious after completing the incredible lift. The 361-pound behemoth burst a nerve in his head while setting the new world record.
Four years after the lift, the former World's Strongest Man uploaded a video on his YouTube channel sharing his thoughts as he was lifting the immense weight. He said:
"It was at this point that I realized I was going blind. I lost the vision in the center of my eyes… that’s when I got quite scared. I just laid down on my back and stared at the ceiling; I thought this is where I’m going to die." [14:52]
Hall added:
"People were wiping blood out of my ears, I had blood in my tear ducts in my eyes and I had blood coming out of my nose. It was pretty evident that I did something serious, like blowing something up in my head." [15:28]
