LONDON (AFP) –
IBF super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch’s much-anticipated re-match with Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler will take place at London’s 02 Arena on May 25, organisers revealed on Friday.
British fighter Froch will be bidding to avenge a unanimous points loss to Kessler after a titanic tussle between the pair in their first meeting in Denmark in April 2010.
Promoter Eddie Hearn told Britain’s Press Association: “I think it’s the biggest feather in my cap as a promoter, bringing a fight like this to the UK.
“I’m proud to have done it and I’m delighted for Carl, because he deserves it. He can now avenge that loss and leave a real legacy for British boxing because I believe he’s one of the all-time greats and a win against Kessler will put him right up there.”
