Not long after the Haryana governement allotted Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar 5 acres of land to build a sports academy, Vijender Singh has become the latest beneficiary of a similar sanction.
The famous boxer will get 3 acres of land on the campus of Motilal Nehru Sports School at Rai in Haryana’s Sonepat district to construct an academy, which will hope to hone and produce the future stars of Indian boxing.
The land which is valued at Rs 95,000 an acre per year, has been provided to Vijender Kumar on a discounted rate of just 35,000 per acre per year for the next 33 years, highlighting the government’s stance on development of athletics in the state.
Also, as per the lease agreement, 50% of the seats will be reserved for the Haryana born athletes to arouse more interest amongst the local budding talent.
