India suffered a blow at the World Boxing Championships after Madan Lal was eliminated from the 52kg event after losing to Vincenzo Picardi 3-0 in his opening bout.
The only boxr on view on Wednesday, Lal began the fight in a confident manner, winning the first round in a split decision. However, Picardi brought his experience into play to make a fine comeback and clinch the second round by cracking Lal’s defence with accurate straight hits.

Despite putting in a brave fight in the final stages of the bout, Lal couldnt pull of the win and eventually bowed out of the competition. After two days into the Champonships, two boxers- Shiva Thapa and Vikas Krishan have moved into the second round.
India would be hoping for the remaining contingent to go deep into the Championships.
