The London edition of the Olympics in 2012 was an historic one, since it was the first time that women’s boxing was introduced in the history of the quadrennial event.
5-time World champion MC Mary Kom entered into the event, looking to add yet another feather to what was an already chequered career and after some challenging bouts against some tight opponents, clinched the bronze medal in the 51kg Flyweight category.

Recolleting her experience of winning the bronze, the 33-year-old talks about the challenge posed by each of the opponent and expressed happiness over standing on the podium the very first time when women’s boxing was being stage at the competition.
The Manipur-born pugilist missed qualifying for Rio 2016 last week, when she lost to Ren Cancan 3-0 in the Asian Olympic qualifiers last week in China. She has two more events to seal a berth into her second Olympics.
