Having won all five of his previous fights, the Beijing Olympic bronze medallist has already proved to the world that he’s no palooka in the ring. Friday’s clash at the Macron Stadium in Bolton, besides being his fourth successive pro boxing appearance in the UK, happens to be his last match before he makes his much-awaited India debut at the Indira Gandhi Arena in New Delhi next month. Therefore, Vijender will be all the more hungry to finish matters on a winning note when he faces Poland’s Andrzej Soldra tomorrow.

The challenge, however, is by no means, poised to be an easy one for him. It’s the first time Singh will be fighting an eight-round fixture. Despite his successful run of form, Vijender’s experience stands at a meagre count of 14 rounds so far, chiefly attributed to the fact that all his previous outings had seen the opponents dismissed via technical knockouts.

In stark contrast, Soldra has a tally of 81 rounds under his belt, which has come off his previous sixteen outings out of which he has emerged victorious twelve times. Like Vijender’s previous rivals, the Polish boxer too has taken to intimidation tactics ahead of their clash in an attempt to throw him off his game.
"I am sure Vijender must be worried to face me tomorrow in the ring. But I will definitely do a horror show with him. I am fully prepared for this," said Vijender’s Polish challenger.
Promising to end his commanding unbeaten streak tomorrow, the European middleweight has also vowed to batter and bruise the Indian before he lands the final knockout punch to walk away with the game.
On the other hand, Vijender, who in order to prepare for such an occasion has undergone a strict regime of endurance training in recent times and seems quite confident in his ability to see off his opponent.
"I know this fight is very crucial for me and I need to continue my unbeaten record and it's important that I put on a commanding performance against Soldra to keep on course for my title shot and my homecoming. I am really excited to finish off my sixth fight on a winning note and then compete for the title in front of my home crowd," the Indian boxing sensation said.
He has shown tremendous maturity and composure in all his bouts so far and fans across the world will be eager to watch him repeat the same feat as the boxers go head-to-head on Friday.
