Vijender Singh, India’s boxing sensation is all set to fight against Andrzej Soldra of Poland in what will be just his sixth professional bout on 13 May at Macron Stadium, Premier Suite, Bolton.
The 30-year-old first gained worldwide fame after becoming India’s first ever Olympic as well as World Championship medallist. He has since gone on to win medals in various competitions from silver in the Commonwealth Games to gold in the 2010 Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China.
Vijender has won all the five bouts he has been part off. His last win came over France’s Matiouze Royer in London .
Soldra, on the other hand, has a record of 12 wins from his 16 matches, with 5 knockouts. The Polish boxer has more experience though as he already has competed in 81 rounds of action. He also has a stellar amateur record with 82 wins in just 98 matches.

When asked about the bout, Soldra was in bullish mood as he said, “Vijender has never met anyone like me and he will realise what it is like fighting with a real professional boxer on the May 13.
”I will take great delight in handing Vijender Singh in his first loss and sending him back home to India beaten and broken.
“In fact I will tell you what I will do to him, I will smash him to the body to loosen him up and then a right hand to knock him out, just watch me.”
Vijender Singh, on the other hand, sounded cautious but confident. He said, “I have seen videos of Soldra he is a good opponent but I am preparing very hard to give him a tough time in the ring.

He’s very experienced though and with 16 fights and 81 rounds he’s got the advantage over me in that department but I will stop him.”
“I know this fight is very crucial for me and I need to continue my unbeaten record and it’s important that I put on a commanding performance against Soldra to keep on course for my title shot and my homecoming. I am really excited to finish off my sixth fight on a winning note and then compete for Asia title in front of my home crowd.”
Indeed, the super middleweight boxer’s WBO Asia title Fight is highly awaited as Vijender will be contesting for his maiden professional title at home turf in New Delhi.
Many of the country’s bigwigs such as Sachin Tendulkar, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal are expected to be in attendance as Vijender has invited them for his homecoming on 11 June.
But first, a spirited Andrzej Soldra stands in the way. Then comes the Asia Title.
