Following the release of Black Ops 6, Call of Duty should surprise fans with a Black Ops 2 Remastered. While it might seem completely unreasonable at this time, there are quite a few valid arguments for this move. From nostalgia to the iconic maps, a remastered version is definitely in order. However, before we begin with the reasons why Black Ops 2 deserves a remaster, there are a few things that need to be addressed.

First of all, if a remaster does happen, the game should not be priced at the usual $70 tag. Second, it should be launched directly into Xbox Games Pass, and third, it should not be exclusive to any particular platform. Only if these criteria are met, should a remastered version of the game be launched.

With that out of the way, let us take a closer look at 5 reasons why Call of Duty should release a Black Ops 2 Remastered following the release of Black Ops 6.

5 reasons why Call of Duty should work on Black Ops 2 Remastered after Black Ops 6

Here are five reasons why a Black Ops 2 Remastered is in order after the launch of Black Ops 6:

1) Recap of the previous events

A remastered Black Ops 2 game will allow the newer Call of Duty fanbase to catch up with the storyline of BO2. Now you might wonder why will that be necessary in 2025. Well, according to rumors, Call of Duty 2025 is reportedly a direct sequel to Black Ops 2.

Hence, launching Black Ops 2 Remastered will allow all newcomers to catch up on the events of the past, giving them a better hold on the events of COD 2025. It will also act as a refresher for veteran fans of the series. BO2 is almost 12 years old at this point and a recap before their 2025 release should definitely be considered.

2) Breathing new life into a classic

The entire point of a remaster is to give old games a breath of new life by improving the graphics, audio, and elements of gameplay that hold up to the modern standards of gaming.

Call of Duty did a fantastic job at remastering COD 4: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 (2009). These remasters went beyond just graphical fidelity and added quite a few easter eggs, polished the gameplay, improved the audio quality, and a lot more.

This not only brought them to par with current-gen standards but also maintained the original essence of the games.

Black Ops 2 is one of the most iconic entries in the Call of Duty series and is often considered by many as the peak of the franchise. Hence, a similar treatment of the shooter with a Black Ops 2 Remastered is definitely in order.

3) Return to the iconic maps

Black Ops 2 featured some of the most iconic maps in the series, including Hijacked, Nuketown 2025, Raid, Standoff, Turbine, Express, Slums, and Carrier, among many others. A remaster would bring these classic maps back for veteran fans and newcomers to enjoy with modern graphics and enhancements such as servers with better tick rates and higher framerates.

This would result in a smoother and more responsive gameplay experience for all, allowing them to play these classic maps in a way the veteran fans couldn't back in the day, all the while maintaining their core essence.

Furthermore, with crossplay now an industry standard, players from different platforms can come together on one map and fight it out with Black Ops 2 Remastered.

4) Improved accessibility features

Black Ops 2 did have quite a few accessibility features back in the day. But constant technological improvements grant the player base even more options for enjoying the gameplay. With Black Ops 2 Remastered, developers can incorporate more accessibility features accommodating players who couldn't enjoy the original title owing to their disabilities.

An iconic game like BO2 should be enjoyed by all, and Black Ops 2 Remastered would ensure this.

5) Expanding mod support

The video game modding community has come a long way since 2012. With new tools at one's disposal, the community can work on custom modes, features, and more, to keep the game going for a long time. Being the iconic game it is, enhanced mod support is certainly a feature that should be considered and implemented with a remastered Black Ops 2 version.

One of the games that have excelled in this regard is Halo Infinite. The level editor tool that comes with the game, Forge, has allowed the community to mod the game to their heart's content. This has helped the game return from the dead and now boasts a remarkable player base.

In fact, some of the efforts by the community were noticed by the developers and later integrated into the official matchmaking playlist, with one example being the Survive the Undead mode.

With a Black Ops 2 Remastered, the experience can be more community-driven if the developers want it to be so. With the help of modern tools and the creativity of the community, the possibilities are endless.

That covers all the 5 reasons why Call of Duty should consider doing a Black Ops 2 Remastered after releasing Black Ops 6.
