If Treyarch wants to please the CoD community with Black Ops 6 Zombies, bringing back several fan-favorite features isn't a bad idea. While the epic return of round-based Zombies and the Crew system is a welcome step, Black Ops 6 Zombies will only get better if it reintegrates certain features from past games.
With the release of Black Ops 6 Zombies being just a few months away, the entire Call of Duty playerbase is hyped to see what this year's Zombies modes have to offer. The following article will highlight seven fan-favorite features Black Ops 6 Zombies should bring back.

7 fan-favorite features that should come back in Black Ops 6 Zombies
1) The introduction of Outbreak 2.0
Black Ops Cold War Zombies' Outbreak was a large-scale experience consisting of various objectives and world events. It took place mostly in the Ural Mountains while sharing several maps from modes like Fireteam and Combined Arms. It brought numerous options for players and rewarded them for completing missions, collecting intel, and successfully attempting an exfil.
As an experimental mode, Outbreak eventually proved to be a fun experience as it introduced a new way to explore the world of Zombies with the addition of extraction, the ability to farm more kills to level up weapons, and completing story-based quests to gather key intel.
Black Ops 6 Zombies should bring back a new and improved version of Outbreak this year to offer a dynamic experience, besides the round-based format in maps like Terminus Island and Liberty Falls. This is a good idea as it will give a refreshing experience to those who like extraction-based gameplay combined with huge waves of Zombies, deadly bosses, and certain intel-focused objectives inside an open-world map.
2) Unique map designs
While the last installment in Black Ops Cold War included a decent number of exciting Zombies maps like Die Maschine, Mauer der Toten, and Forsaken, none of them could be classified as unique. Most maps felt the same when players dove into them.
On the other hand, older titles like Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3 had maps like Origins, Buried, Die Rise, Kino der Toten, Nacht der Untoten, and Shadow of Evil, which were different from each other in design and surroundings. They felt refreshing and completely offered a whole new experience whenever players used to enter them.
With Black Ops 6, Treyarch is going to introduce two very different maps in design and setting: Terminus Island and Liberty Falls. One is an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, with an underground prison focusing on nighttime. The other area is set in the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia and will focus on day time.
While these two will be the maps at launch, Treyarch should continue this pattern throughout the game's life cycle to prevent players from getting bored of areas that appear similar. In short, future maps (when they are released) should differ from both Terminus Island and Liberty Falls in their overall layout and design.
3) Easter-Egg difficulty
In recent years, players completing Easter Eggs in Black Ops Zombies has become common. While the Easter Egg quests have not been entirely easy, there's a lack of balance of difficulty when compared to 2020's Black Ops Cold War Zombies.
While the game offered challenging Easter Egg missions in its maps, most of them felt like they didn't have enough depth in terms of finding hidden clues by overcoming obstacles to accomplish the end-goal.
For Black Ops 6 Zombies, Treyarch can bring a slightly balanced level of difficulty for Easter Eggs as seen in Black Ops 3. The 2015 title had many quests that weren't too challenging in maps like Ascension, Moon, and Origins. At the same time, maps like Shangri-La, Buried, and Die Rise required a bit of extra effort and analysis.
Black Ops 6 should also have a balance of Easter Egg difficulty in its maps, namely Terminus Island and Liberty Falls, where players can have challenging objectives to finish by progressing through enough obstacles without feeling like they appear to be slightly easy.
4) Game pause feature for Solo and Co-op experience
In the last Zombies game, CoD Vanguard, Solo and Co-Op players weren't able to fully pause the game during a match. Despite exiting the gameplay to pause it, the dedicated servers didn't really allow them to pause the match, as it still used to run in the background.
Black Ops 6 should feature improved servers to fully pause the gameplay, in both Solo and Co-op modes. This way, it will be easy for players to take breaks while they are in the middle of a crucial quest, as well.
This way, they won't have to worry about getting attacked by Zombies and dying even when they are on a break.
5) Starting Pistol instead of a dedicated weapon
Classic Call of Duty Zombies titles like World at War had a format of giving just a handgun at the beginning of a game. However, recent installments like Black Ops Cold War have leaned heavily into the format of giving proper weapon loadouts before dropping into a match.
This seems to have eliminated the risk of finding one's way to better weapons in the match by progressing with just a pistol. Although it's not possible, Treyarch can at least introduce a system of giving players a simple pistol at the start of a match, but with a twist.
What can be done is that players can select a stronger weapon to be placed into a Loadout Locker. After spawning in the map, they can continue with the pistol till they find the dedicated Loadout Locker to unlock their chosen weapon. This will be a good of way of bringing back nostalgia while also making the experience engaging and fun.
6) High Rounds with high rewards
While Black Ops Cold War Zombies featured a good mix of modes with extremely challenging round-based matches, the overall experience seems to have become quite easy for many hardcore players. They would want more challenges in round-based Zombies to earn lucrative and special rewards in the end.
Maybe Black Ops 6 Zombies can push the limit further with increased difficulty on higher rounds with high rewards. The addition of more exclusive and rare rewards will keep hardcore players motivated and hooked for a longer duration as they overcome increased difficulties while progressing in the game.
7) HUD Customization
Treyarch has confirmed that players will be able to customize the HUD on their screens in Black Ops 6 Multiplayer. However, the same hasn't been confirmed for Black Ops 6 Zombies just yet.
Black Ops 6 Zombies should also have the HUD customization feature. This way, players will be able to choose what they want to see on their screen, for example, the enemy health bar, icons for different weapons, and so on. Doing so will make the overall experience slightly more immersive as players will be able to remove HUD elements they don't prefer.
