"At this point we'll take anything" - COD fans want OG Warzone to be back and replace the current one

Ever since Warzone 2 dropped, complaints about the battle royale straying from the standard formula have been on the rise. Since then, each iteration of the shooter has seen major criticism. But things then took a turn for the worse. When Black Ops 6 was integrated with Warzone, the game felt completely different and in some cases, Warzone had become worse. Clunky movement, hit registration problems, and more are now forcing players away from the game.

Recently, @Xen CPreds on X posted a picture of the original Warzone, requesting that the developers bring back the "OG" experience. Needless to say, a lot of fans agreed with the statement.

A fan who goes by the username @TacticalTony244 on X commented on how they felt about the recent version of Warzone:

"At this point we'll take ANYTHING but this current Warzone..."

They stated that based on how Warzone is at the moment, they would literally pick any other battle royale over it. This was a sign of how they were upset with how the developers decided to change the battle royale game. There were many more who were upset with how things had gone with Warzone.

@0ptalgin also commented on the same post and shared their thoughts about the current state of the game. Here's what they had to say:

"Warzone with the MW feel, bringing verdansk back would be great. just rotate maps, and old loadouts. Why there's only 1 "Formula 1"? BECAUSE THERE WAS NO NEED FOR *ANOTHER ONE*"

According to the user, Warzone, with the gameplay of Modern Warfare (2019) would set the ship in the right direction. Along with that, bringing back Verdansk, rotating the maps, and a return to the classical style of loadouts, would make the title great again. They also added that there was only one "Formula 1" as it was the only one that was needed.

Everything about it just works and it is perfect. Hence, making multiple iterations of the same game would not work as intended.

Another user, @klgzy also thought along similar lines about the gameplay:

"If it’s not on the MW2019 engine I don’t want it."

They mentioned that if the battle royale title wasn't based on the Modern Warfare (2019) engine, they wouldn't play.

While the community voiced their thoughts about returning to the days of the OG Warzone with Modern Warfare (2019) engine, a few fans went even further, claiming that the developers need to bring back Blackout, which was the first BR game made by Call of Duty.

@GrizzlyBaier's message was clear. They wanted to go back to the BR genre. They called for the developers to bring back the first battle royale from Call of Duty, "Blackout", and remove the concept of loadouts entirely. According to them, with custom loadouts, Warzone currently felt like a "glorified" game of Team Deathmatch instead of Battle Royale.

A fan, who goes by the username @CODBlueLeague, made fun of the developers and wishful thinking of the community:

"They can hardly re-release Urzikstan."

According to them, the developers haven't been able to properly re-release Urzikstan, a map added to the game only a year back. For those unaware, Call of Duty decided to roll back the changes to Urzikstan that it had received over the year.

This was done to accommodate all the Black Ops 6 changes. However, the return to the original Urzikstan didn't go as planned. The re-release was riddled with a lot of issues that left fans frustrated at the end of the day.

@BuhBerger also mocked the developers. With a tinge of humor, they commented the following:

"Our data indicates that this would be too much fun".

Right off the bat, @BuhBerger's comment may not make sense to many but it's a reference to a previous comment from developers. They had claimed back in the day that their internal data indicated that SBMM (Skill-Based Matchmaking) made matches better and more fun.

@BuhBerger simply meant that the developers just wouldn't go back to the OG WZ.

Call of Duty fans are frustrated with Warzone after Black Ops 6 integration

Call of Duty fans are quite upset about how developers decided to change Warzone over time and wish they could return to the original version of the game. Having released back in March 2020 WZ quickly became a success.

The title was completely free-to-play on all platforms and allowed crossplay. The shooter also succeeded because it had properly integrated the mechanics of MW 2019, resulting in a simple, smooth, and seamless battle royale experience.

Over time, however, it saw a lot of changes. Warzone 1 was eventually shut down in 2022 and was replaced with WZ 2. Unfortunately, this couldn't keep up with expectations from the community. Later, when it was integrated with Modern Warfare 3 (2023) most issues had been ironed out and the community was close to their ideal battle royale.

Expectations were high in 2024, with fans believing the title would only get better after its integration with Black Ops 6. But once again, things didn't go as planned, with fans claiming that WZ is currently in its worst state.
