The fourth episode of CODPOD focused on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, revealing exciting updates about its Zombies mode, new maps, seasonal content, and returning fan-favorite mechanics. CODPOD is Activision’s series of podcast-like videos that mainly focus on the latest developments in the Call of Duty franchise.

With its first episode released back in July 2024, CODPOD offers you an insider’s perspective on the world of Call of Duty, featuring discussions with developers, detailed breakdowns of new content, and a first look at upcoming features. Here’s everything we have learned from the latest CODPOD episode.

One of the standout revelations from the episode was the new Black Ops 6 Zombies map, Citadelle Des Morts. Set in a dark King Arthur-inspired setting, the map offers large-scale exploration like that of Terminus but also with intense close-quarters combat, featuring areas like The Tavern and The Stables. Another unique feature of Citadel is its four elemental melee Wonder Weapons, which replace the dedicated melee slot.

Moreover, the introduction of Directed Mode has made the game a more accessible, open-world experience if you are a casual gamer. You can focus on exploration and survival without the high-pressure stakes of traditional Zombies gameplay.

The first seasonal event, Jingle Hells, will arrive with Season 1 Reloaded, transforming the Liberty Falls map into a winter wonderland. Snow-covered landscapes, frozen rivers, and holiday decorations will set a festive mood on the map. You can use snowballs as weapons, freezing zombies to make them drop presents containing perks and power-ups.

Additionally, some unique rounds will force you to seek shelter to avoid freezing, adding a layer of survival to the festive chaos. The event will also reintroduce the fan-favorite Naughty or Nice power-up, which can either reward you with gifts or spawn plaguehounds for a challenging twist.

Zombies mode in Black Ops 6 will also see the return of iconic perks and features, including Vulture Aid, which now causes zombies to drop ammo, salvage, and lethals. The Tesla Storm Field Upgrade from Cold War makes a comeback, allowing you to chain lightning between teammates for efficient crowd control.

A new addition is the Light Mend Ammo Mod, which introduces health orbs that spawn when zombies are killed. These orbs can be stockpiled to heal you when your health dips and an optional augment makes zombies take damage when passing through the orbs.

The Gobble Gum system has also been updated with new options to enhance gameplay. Power Surge instantly spawns a Full Power power-up, while Timeout pauses round progression to give you a recovery window.

The festive Holiday Cheer gum makes zombies spawn with wreaths. Meanwhile, gameplay tweaks address some player feedback, such as reducing the spawn rate of Manglers in higher rounds and shortening special rounds to maintain pacing without compromising difficulty. The episode also highlighted the Call of Duty Endowment’s 15th Anniversary, introducing themed in-game items to support veteran job placement initiatives.
