Future Call of Duty games might be using AI-generated content. Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, recently talked about the future of Xbox and video games in the annual shareholder's meeting. He pointed out something intriguing regarding the use of AI in their video games. First reported by Stephen Totilo on Game Files, Microsoft's CEO talked about how AI innovation could be used to build games that can be enjoyed by players everywhere. He said:
"We feel fantastic about the progress we’ve made and, more importantly, I think long term as a company, we can bring the best of AI innovation, cloud innovation, console innovation, PC innovation to build the best games that can be enjoyed by gamers everywhere."

Call of Duty might see the usage of AI-generated content in future games
Satya Nadela suggested that future Xbox games, which now also includes the Call of Duty franchise, might use AI-generated content in upcoming releases. He said that he was proud of the progress the company had made in terms of gaming and the Xbox brand.
The Microsoft CEO then added that in the long term, Xbox aimed to bring the best of AI, cloud, console, and PC innovation to give fans amazing games that could be enjoyed by players "everywhere."
Although it was not explicitly stated, based on his statements, it can be certainly said that Xbox will be using AI-generated content in their games.
Considering that Xbox now owns Activision Blizzard, Call of Duty publishers, it is highly likely that AI content might make its way to the COD games as well in the future. Interestingly, the latest Call of Duty title has already been subject to a lot of criticism over the alleged use of AI.
In one of the loading screens called "Necroclaus," a Zombie Santa could be seen with six fingers. This led to the game's community blaming the devs for using AI in the game to generate content and reward players.
That wasn't all. Fans also pointed out several pieces of artwork in the title that seemed to have been generated using AI. Players were not happy and the issue was raised on several social media platforms. However, there has been no proof that the content was AI-generated at the moment.
Based on Satya Nadella's statement, it won't be surprising if we see in-game content like cosmetics and assets being AI-generated in the future.
