Released on October 25, 2024, Black Ops 6 has seen immense commercial success. In fact, it was the biggest title launch in the history of Call of Duty games. During its launch week, it had the highest number of active players on PlayStation in the United States. However, months later, in December 2024, this situation has changed drastically.

Currently, the Call of Duty HQ has been left behind by Fortnite and NBA 2K25 on the PlayStation US charts. The COD HQ acts as the launcher for all the currently active titles including Black Ops 6 and Warzone. This is the first time since Black Ops 6's release that it has been ranked at number three.

All the COD titles were united under the Call of Duty HQ banner in November 2023. Therefore, regardless of specific titles, the HQ launcher is what remains visible on the charts. The release of Black Ops 6 had a great impact on the popularity of the franchise and COD HQ saw a rise in the number of active players.

The new title had the biggest launch weekend and a rather strong launch week. Subsequently, it topped the charts when it came to having the most active players on consoles including PlayStation and Xbox.

The rankings have shifted, with Fortnite now leading, followed by NBA 2K25, and then Call of Duty HQ in the PlayStation US charts.

This is sudden and perhaps somewhat surprising. The release of Black Ops 6 was a magnificent commercial success, attracting the attention of 37% of the total players active on PS5 in November 2024.

The reason for the loss of the number one ranking could simply be that the hype surrounding the game has slowly started fading since its release in October 2024. It's rather possible that players who immediately purchased the game upon release are now done with the campaigns. This leaves with the usual Multiplayer action along with Call of Duty Warzone.

Unfortunately, the Multiplayer mode in BO6 and Warzone are not new to any CoD veteran. These game modes have existed for a very long time and though Black Ops 6 introduces some nuances, the essence of these games remains the same.

These reasons could contribute to the games losing the number one position.
