Warzone's popular DMZ mode still remains free to play and you can access it from the Warzone section of the COD HQ app. While there isn't a cost associated with playing the mode, you can purchase optional in-game items for it, such as cosmetics, weapon skins, and battle passes that offer additional rewards and progression options.

That said, the DMZ mode has now stopped receiving new updates, as confirmed by Activision. Whether or not the developers will make any changes to this popular mode remains unclear.

What is DMZ mode in Warzone ?

Drawing inspiration from survival shooters like Escape from Tarkov, DMZ mode in Warzone is a PvPvE mode where players are placed into small teams on small Warzone maps and are tasked with one clear objective: to infiltrate, complete missions, gather high-value loot, and exfiltrate successfully.

Unlike the traditional Battle Royales, where the goal is to be the last team standing, DMZ focuses on strategic gameplay and mission completion. The mode has PvP and PvE elements as the maps are populated with bots and other players who may set up an ambush to steal your loot, especially at the exfiltration points.

Considering the particular mode was introduced as a part of Warzone, you can access it for free like the other modes. While it does include in-game purchases, it is important to note that they do not affect the progress in this mode and are for aesthetic purposes only.

Minimum system requirements to run DMZ mode

It is important that PC players make sure they meet the following minimum system requirements to run this mode:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit (latest update)
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-6100, Core i5-2500K or AMD Ryzen 3 1200
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX 470
  • Video Memory: 2 GB

Whether you're looting, fighting bots, or killing enemies, the DMZ mode proves to be an enjoyable experience if you want to jump back into the game.
