Call of Duty Warzone's MnK (Mouse and Keyboard) players complaining about aim assist on controller is nothing new. This time, the MnK community has found a solution to counter the problem. On a Reddit post, a user named disagreet0disagree stated that Ubisoft's XDefiant will be released soon (May 21), and for the first time, an AAA FPS with modern mechanics will have a specific lobby for MnK players.
The user said:
"MnK players. We finally have a solution to aim assist and forced cross input play in WZ."
Since the release of Warzone in 2020, MnK and controller players both have been complaining about the crossplay, where you are forced to face each other. While Activision devs stated multiple times that the aim assist on controller is balanced out with MnK players, the community never believed so.
After Ubisoft announced XDefiant, which is a free-to-play multiplayer FPS, the devs have revealed that the game will not feature two of the most controversial features that Call of Duty has. One of them is not forcing players to have cross-input matches, and the other one is not having SBMM in the normal playlist.
Hence, Call of Duty fans think it's time to switch the game, which might "pressure Activision to change their hostility towards MnK".
Agreeing with the thread owner, a user named Burning87 stated:
"To imagine getting actual accurate representation of your skills by getting to play against purely MnK players would be bliss. I do hope it succeeds. Will let my friends know about it."
Another Redditor named Hybridzm thinks competition is always healthy, and it brings out the best in each other. The user also hopes that XDefiant will take them to the "good ol' days of 07-09".
However, not everyone seems to agree with the post. Controller players have always complained about how playing with MnK players have brought several hackers into Warzone, and due to that, they face the consequences.
Th3MJK stated:
"Can't wait to see this.. The reality will be hacker only lobbies, and a bunch of people getting a reality check. God speed to you. This will be hilarious ."
Could XDefiant take Warzone's place for MnK players?
While there's no definitive answer to this, yet, it could be something that the upcoming game can capitalize on to outdo the competition.
One user has also explained that XDefiant can't be a solution to the problem in Warzone. According to them:
"XDefiant though, is just a generic arena shooter with nothing really special to offer, honest opinion. I think most of us are looking for a better battle royale experience and that isn't it."
It seems like a large part of the community wants a traditional battle royale experience with input-only matchmaking. However, with most games leaning towards crossplay compatibility, that has become more and more difficult.
