Since the release of Call of Duty, a lot of multiplayer FPS games tried to compete with the behemoth, but most of the games ended up losing the battle. This time, CoD will have another competition, and it's from Fortnite. Epic Games has announced a brand new first-person shooter mode for the game and it's called Fortnite Ballistic.

Mostly popular for third-person shooter and its battle royale mode, Fortnite is entering the 5v5 arcade-style FPS and the first teaser resembles classic Call of Duty gameplay. Read below to learn more about how Fortnite Ballistic can compete with Call of Duty.

Fortnite Ballistic might give serious competition to Call of Duty

Needless to say, the classic Call of Duty multiplayer has a lot of competition in the market, but if we take away the hero shooter genre, there is very little left. With XDefiant shutting down, it has also become evident that it's hard to survive in this specific genre. However, Fortnite already has a massive playerbase, and with a brand new 5v5 tactical FPS, CoD might have some serious competition this time.

Fortnite Ballistic is going to early access from December 11. The brand-new experience also comes with the Ranked Mode from the get-go. With its no-build feature and a mode very similar to the classic Attackers vs. Defenders in games like Valorant and Counter-Strike, the Fortnite Ballistic can easily be an alternative to several games with a proper competitive scene.

However, given the state of Black Ops 6 and Warzone right now, Call of Duty players are craving more than anyone for something new in the arcade-style FPS genre.

While Fortnite Ballistic's primary mode has elements from both Valorant and Counter-Strike, the game looks very similar to Call of Duty's multiplayer. Furthermore, the game also comes with a Ranked Play from the get-go. Although the aforementioned games have their dedicated ranked mode, the state of Black Ops 6 is not good right now.

With SBMM and cheaters in the game, a large section of the community has shown disappointment. Hence, a game that looks like Call of Duty and plays like Valorant/Counter-Strike could convince CoD fans to give it a try. Moreover, it's always good to have healthy competition.
