How to complete Unstable Rift in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

Unstable Rift is the newest addition to Modern Warfare 3 Zombies in Season 4 Reloaded. It is a challenging new location accessible through a portal that requires activation by completing certain challenges within the map. It is one of the most difficult regions in the game, as it is filled with powerful zombies that you need to tackle.

However, if you complete Unstable Rift, you will be rewarded with an exclusive animated weapon camo called the Mark of the Survivor and the removal of the cooldown timer for all insured weapons and Schematics.

This article provides a detailed guide on how to activate the portal, what weapons to carry, and how to complete the Unstable Rift effectively in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies.

A guide to completing the Unstable Rift in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies

To activate the Unstable Rift portal in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies, you first need to activate three Obelisk altars within the map. It's important to note that this process is not limited to your squad. Any squad in the same match can activate the altars.

Once the portal is activated, anyone can enter, and it is a one-time use only. However, you can repeat the process of activating the three Obelisk altars to open another portal.

How to activate the three Obelisk altars

The Obelisk altars spawn randomly as the match progresses rather than appearing directly at the start. There is no fixed spawning pattern. However, there are certain known locations where they tend to appear.

Before entering a match, make sure to bring four alternate ammo modes: Brain Rot, Cryo Freeze, Dead Wire, and Napalm Burst. This is crucial because each Obelisk altar you locate will have a symbol beneath it indicating which ammo mod you need to equip. For example, if an Obelisk alter has a freeze symbol, you must equip the Cryo Freeze ammo mod to your weapon to activate the alter.

Once activated, a circle will appear. You need to stay within its radius while eliminating zombies. Remember to kill only the zombies that enter the circle; otherwise, they won't count, and you will fail to activate the altar.

If you successfully activate the altar, a reward rift will appear, providing you with some rewards. You must repeat this process until you have activated three Obelisk altars. Once you have done this, an Unstable Rift portal will appear randomly somewhere on the map. Head there as quickly as possible to prevent other squads from stealing the portal.

The portal symbol is distinct and easily visible due to its bright red color. You don't need to worry about your weapons' status, perks, or necessary powerups before heading inside.

Upon entering, your weapons will automatically be upgraded to the highest rarity and fully Pack-a-Punched, and you'll receive Golden Armor plates. Additionally, you will receive all Perks and Powerups. However, be aware that it is an extremely difficult region to conquer, so it is highly recommended to go there with a proper squad.

The best weapon to use is the RGL-80 with the new Conversion Kit JAK Thumper-656 and the Slug ammunition attachment. Additionally, The Scorcher Wonder Weapon is highly effective, and carrying the Ather Blade as lethal equipment is advisable.

Now, you are ready to delve into the region. Inside, you will have 45 minutes, and there are no additional tasks or procedures to complete. Upon entering, you will encounter zombies to kill in five waves.

At the end of each wave, there will be a boss that must be eliminated for you to proceed to the next one. Completing all five waves will allow you to clear the region and acquire the rewards.

About the waves of zombies

The first two waves will be relatively easy, with multiple zombies and High-Value Target (HVT) bosses to tackle. As the waves progress, the difficulty will increase. In the first wave, the boss is usually an HVT Mimic.

As the second wave begins, Mimics will spawn along with regular zombies, and the boss is again typically an HVT Mimic.

In the third wave, you will notice that the regular zombies are slightly stronger, requiring more bullets to kill. Along with regular zombies, you will encounter Mimics and Manglers, and the boss will generally be an HVT Disciple.

For the fourth wave, you will face the same number of zombies, along with special zombies like Mimics, Manglers, and Disciples. Additionally, the zombies' health will regenerate. This means you need to kill them before their health fully regenerates.

The boss will likely be an HVT Mimic with the ability to EMP, temporarily disabling your weapons if it gets too close, so maintaining your distance is crucial.

The fifth and most difficult wave will feature a significantly higher number of zombies. You will also encounter the special zombies from the fourth wave. However, this time, you will face elite special zombies that are very powerful.

The boss will be the HVT Disciple from the Modern Warfare 3 Season 3 Reloaded Dark Aether mission. This boss will have subordinate elite HVT zombies that must be eliminated before you can damage the HVT Disciple boss. Don’t worry, as the subordinate zombies will be clearly marked.

Upon completing all the waves, you will successfully finish Unstable Rift in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies, earning the Mark of the Survivor camo and removing the cooldown timer from all Insured Weapons and Schematics.
