How old is Ghost in Call of Duty?

Ghost is a fan-favorite character in Call of Duty, whose debut in Modern Warfare 2 led many players to dive into the franchise. Simon “Ghost” Riley is a British special forces operator and a member of Task Force 141. He is known for his legendary skull-patterned mask, which he always wears. Consequently, his face has never been revealed.

In Modern Warfare 2, he was the main supporting character alongside the playable protagonist Gary "Roach" Sanderson.


Who is Ghost and how old is he in Call of Duty?

Simon “Ghost” Riley is the second in command at Task Force 141. Popularly known as the “Silent Killer” in MacTavish’s team, he was assigned to track down Vladimir Makarov (the main antagonist in Modern Warfare 2) after the terrorist leader attacked and kicked off World War 3.

There is no official statement regarding his age. However, according to CoD Fandom and Video Games Fanon, he was born on May 17, 1984. This puts him at 40 years old.

Why did Ghost become a fan-favorite character in Modern Warfare 2?

In Modern Warfare 2, Ghost becomes a fan-favorite character after the plot twist at the end of the “Loose End” mission. At the end of this mission, General Shepherd betrayed Ghost and Roach by incinerating them. General Shepherd was a high-ranked officer in the US Army who also served as the commander of the U.S. military forces, including the Marine Corps units in MW2.

This scene leaves many players shattered, leading them to develop a strong connection with Ghost. However, for the continuation of the character, the developers reintroduced him in several other Call of Duty games like Ghost, Heroes, Warzone, and many others. Note that in other Call of Duty games, Ghost was reintroduced with new backgrounds to freshen up the character.
