The ability to play split-screen has always been a beloved feature for Call of Duty fans, and Black Ops 6 continues this tradition. However, this feature has been made a little complicated in the latest installment. If you are struggling to understand how to go about it, we’ll walk you through the steps to set up and enjoy split-screen in Black Ops 6.
How to set up split-screen in Black Ops 6
Before we proceed, keep in mind that you can currently play Black Ops 6 in split-screen on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S only; older consoles like PS4, Xbox One, or PC don’t support it.
Both players must have separate Activision accounts and console profiles. You will also need to have an active internet connection as there is no offline split-screen available for Black Ops 6. You will also likely face bots rather than other online players when playing split-screen.

Proceed with the following steps to set up split-screen in Black Ops 6:
- Start by loading Black Ops 6 on your console (PS5 or Xbox Series X/S).
- Select Multiplayer or Zombies from the main menu—both modes support split-screen.
- Once in the lobby of the chosen mode, connect your second controller and make sure it’s paired.
- After connecting the second controller, you’ll be asked to log in to a user profile. Make sure this is not a guest but a full user account on the console.
- After logging in the second console account, the game will ask you to sign into a separate Activision account.
- If you don’t have second Activision account, create one on the Activsion website to avoid issues.
- If all the steps have been followed correctly, the second player’s name should now appear in the top-right corner of the screen, next to the first player’s name. This confirms that both are successfully connected.
- When both of you are logged in, you can turn off Squad fill if you don’t want any additional players to join you online.
Once split-screen is set up, the screen will divide into two halves, with each player taking up one half of the display. Black Ops 6 will automatically adjust the game’s interface to accommodate two players. The game may lower the graphics settings slightly to ensure a smooth experience for both of you when split-screen is active.
