Players are once again playing Modern Warfare Remastered in anticipation of the upcoming H2M multiplayer mod. This mod, which releases on August 16, aims to mix elements from the original Modern Warfare 2 game with Modern Warfare Remastered. However, this trip-down nostalgia for gamers may not be smooth because of the shader cache issues in the game.
While the shader cache issues can of course disrupt the gaming experience, we will go through a possible fix for the issue in this article.
NOTE: The fix mentioned below may not guarantee an absolute result for everyone.
Modern Warfare Remastered shader cache issue: Possible fix
Shader cache issues in Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered can lead to graphical glitches and frequent game crashes. Shaders are small programs that control how the graphics are rendered in the game. It is a storage region on your computer that holds compiled shaders for easy access.
This helps improve performance by reducing the need to recompile shaders every time they are needed. However, the shader cache can get corrupted or overloaded, leading to graphical issues.
When players launch their Modern Warfare Remastered game for the first time, the game will ask if they want to cache their shaders. If the players are running the game on an RTX Nvidia card or any Nvidia card that's newer than a GTX 1660, it is recommended to disable this option.
As for AMD users, the game is well-optimized for them. But if the game still freezes and crashes, it is recommended to disable that option as well.
You can follow the steps mentioned below to disable the shaders and get rid of the shader cache issue in Modern Warfare Remastered:
Campaign mode:
- Click on settings in the main menu and locate the advanced video options.
- Here, search for the shader preload option.
- After locating the shader preload option, disable it.
Multiplayer mode:
- In the main menu, go to options, then to settings, and then look for the graphics tab.
- Under the graphics tab, look for the video options.
- In the video options, look for the cache shader options and turn them off.
If players wish to run Modern Warfare Remastered smoothly without any issues, it is suggested to follow the abovementioned steps to enjoy the H2M mod when released.
