How does the Prestige System work in BO6?
The following is a brief overview of how the Prestige system works in Black Ops 6:
- Right out of the bat, you can level up to Military Rank 55. Once reached, you get to Prestige your account.
- Once you have Prestiged, your account statistics, Rank, and all unlocks will be reset, and you must start from Level 1 again. However, by doing so you attain Prestige 1, which will be represented with a new player icon right beside your player ID. Note that your purchases, challenges, weapon progression, base Operators, and Zombies Gobblegums won't reset.
- You also get a Permanent Unlock token. You can use it to unlock any weapon or item in the game that will remain with you even if your account is reset when you've done Prestige. For instance, you can decide to use the token to unlock AS VAL which is available at Level 55. Now the AS VAL will permanently remain with you and need not unlock it again when your rank is reset.
- While at Prestige 1, you'll be able to level up to Military Rank 55 again. Once reached, you can again have Prestige done to your profile. This will reset everything and you'll reach Prestige 2. On top of that, you'll earn another Permanent Unlock token.
- This will repeat until you reach Prestige 10, totaling 10 Permanent Unlock tokens. Moreover, with each Prestige level reached, you will earn rewards and more challenges to complete, which will give you additional items in the game.
- Once Prestige 10 is complete, you unlock Prestige Mastery, which allows you to climb up to Level 1000 in the game. Needless to say, there are rewards associated with each Prestige Mastery level as well as with every 100th Prestige Mastery level.
That covers the basics of the new Prestige system in Black Ops 6. Unlike titles like MW2 (2022) or MW3 (2023), you won't have to wait for a new season to drop to reach higher Prestige levels and obtain the corresponding rewards. You can get started with the grind for Prestige 10 right away and earn a plethora of unique rewards on the way.

Conclusion
The Prestige System in Black Ops 6 is a way for players to showcase their in-game prowess. While different rank titles in competitive modes serve a similar purpose, the prestige levels truly portray the amount of time a player has put into the game. Since the ranks completely reset and the weapons get locked again, it acts as a sort of challenge for the community and adds an extra layer of gameplay experience.

Most previous generation Call of Duty titles followed a similar Prestige System. While there are not many perks for attaining a higher Prestige level, it is one of the best ways to stand out in a lobby since the game provides a unique icon for players who have secured prestige for their account.
