The Maelstrom in Warzone and Black Ops 6 is a fully automatic Shotgun that was added with the Season 1 Reloaded update. Based on the COD Blog seasonal roadmap details, the Shotgun is designed to annihilate enemies at close-quarter combat. However, its full auto shooting mechanism comes at a cost. It has an extremely high recoil and large hip fire spread, which makes using the Shotgun at mid or long ranges quite difficult.

To unlock the Maelstrom in Warzone and Black Ops 6, you must acquire all ten rewards in the Merry Mayhem event. It is an XP-based event, which means you will unlock various rewards at different XP milestones. For instance, when you get 9000 XP in the event, you will unlock the Holiday Fear Emblem. Similarly, you will unlock the Necroclaus Loading Screen at 21200 XP.

Once you unlock all ten rewards in the Merry Mayhem event, you'll unlock the new Maelstrom Shotgun.

It has 34 Levels for you to grind through and unlock various attachments. You can equip a variety of Optics, Muzzle, Barrel, Underbarrel, Magazine, Rear Grip, Stock, Laser, and Fire Mods, to customize the weapon to your liking.

Although the Shotgun is constrained only to close-quarter combat, you can use the right attachments to overcome these problems. This will ensure that the cons have been mitigated to an extent and the strengths have been maximized.
