In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the Baseball Bat is one of the two melee weapons available, alongside the Knife. While the Knife, unlocked by default, is a one-hit-kill weapon, the Baseball Bat requires two hits to eliminate an opponent, making it a less viable choice. However, for players interested in using the Baseball Bat, specific criteria must be met to unlock it.
This article covers how to unlock and use the Baseball Bat in Black Ops 6.
How to unlock the Baseball Bat in Black Ops 6
Unlocking the Baseball Bat requires you to reach Level 52. Currently, Double XP and Double Weapon XP are active, so this is the best time to level up in the game. You can do so in whichever mode you prefer — Multiplayer or Zombies.
This opportunity is limited and will conclude on November 5, 2024. To make the process even faster, attempt the Daily Challenges across both Multiplayer and Zombies, which can grant you 21000 XP per day by completing them all.
So, after reaching that required account level, the Baseball Bat will automatically be unlocked and ready to be used.
How to use the Baseball Bat in Black Ops 6
To use the Baseball Bat, you first need to equip it in your loadout. Follow these steps before starting a match in either Zombies or Multiplayer mode:
- Select your desired game mode.
- Go to the Weapons section at the top of the screen.
- Navigate to the Loadout menu.
- Select the Melee slot.
- Choose the Baseball Bat (the other option is the Knife).
After equipping the Bat, start the match. In BO6, even with the Overkill Wildcard or a weapon bought from a Wall Buy in Zombies mode, you can carry and switch to the melee weapon alongside two primary weapons.
To equip the Baseball Bat during gameplay, hold the melee button. For keyboard and mouse players, V is the default key; for controller users, it’s R3/RS with the default control scheme.

As mentioned, the Baseball Bat is a two-hit kill weapon. Its in-game description refers to it as an aluminum bat designed for quick swings, capable of inflicting significant damage and blunt trauma.
Furthermore, in Hardcore mode, the Bat becomes a one-hit kill weapon. However, keep in mind that players die quickly in this mode, so use it cautiously.
