"It's a cheat code"—Call of Duty fans are unhappy over Nfinity's claims at Esports World Cup

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone have recently become a part of the ongoing Esports World Cup. While this is a big step for the FPS franchise, a comment made by Esports World Cup presenter Brodie "Nfinity" Lyon has divided the CoD fanbase in a popular debate regarding the MnK (Mouse and Keyboard) and controller players.

In the show, Nfinity states,

"It's a cheat code! (playing M&K) It's cheating, let's be honest. It's much better, keyboard & mouse players are insane..."

However, it's been a while since MnK players claimed controllers are overpowered in Call of Duty. This comment by the host has surely angered the MnK players, and some of the comments show how they feel regarding this statement.

On a Reddit thread, a user named HDowNFaLL states,

"It's cheating yet not a single MnK player in top 250"

In Call of Duty's official leaderboard, most of the top ranks are occupied by controller players. Hence, the user questions the lack of high-ranked MnK players if using these peripherals can be deemed "cheating."

Another user mentioned popular CoD content creator Metaphor and asked,

"Isn't Metaphor 1?"

To explain the situation, a user named wouter14071985 replies,

"Regarding number of kills globally, not regarding rank. He's one of the best Mnk players in the world and he doesn't play tournaments because he can't compete with controller pros, his words."

Some fans on the Reddit thread have also made trolls regarding the comment. A user stated,

"You can tell he never played the game apparently"

Another user also explained that MnK has a raw input device. However, a controller has a built-in program that helps players to aim. The user also drew a comparison between the controller's aim assist and the aim bot system, stating they both are "strangely similar."

Esports World Cup reportedly features more controller players than MnK in Call of Duty Warzone and MW3

Unsurprisingly, most of the pro players competing in tournaments use controllers to play Warzone and MW3. That is also the case for the Esports World Cup. On the same Reddit thread, a user stated,

"Hence why there’s like 2 total Keyboard and Mouse players in the EWC and Warzone 1 million dollar tourney lol."
