Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remastered reportedly existed in reality

Call of Duty fans have longed for a Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remastered ever since the classic title was introduced more than a decade ago. Yes, the game was re-released with a Remastered Campaign in 2020, but the Multiplayer wasn't a part of it. Many people believed the MP wasn't ever considered for a remastered version but it seems that wasn't the case, according to a newly discovered detail.

The original Modern Warfare 2 is still considered one of the best Call of Duty installments and video games to ever come out, thanks to its compelling single-player and Multiplayer modes.

Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remastered was reportedly developed but never got public

A trusted scooper @Nocturnal2002, with a convincing track record, recently mentioned on X that the Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remastered game actually existed but Activision didn't make it official.

In fact, MW2's Remastered Multiplayer was developed by Beenox (an Activision-owned studio) in early 2018. However, the version wasn't introduced to players alongside the Campaign which was re-released in March 2020.

While disclosing details on MW2's Remastered Campaign, Activision had previously given the following reason for why there was no Multiplayer version included:

"You may be wondering ‘where’s multiplayer and Special Ops’? Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered does not include those modes."

That's pretty much everything the company mentioned while not giving a proper explanation as to why the MP mode wasn't considered for a remastered experience.

Be that as it may, now, it looks like the publisher intentionally kept Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remastered away from the public eye in order to focus on Warzone and the rebooted Modern Warfare from 2019, back in 2020, according to the insider's discovery.

Per the scooper, Activision may have refrained from launching a remastered MP experience in order to save it as a future option to churn out in a rare year with no premium Call of Duty release. However, that is just a theory for now and can't be fully confirmed.

It will be interesting to see whether hardcore fans will ever receive a remastered Multiplayer experience of 2009's blockbuster game.
