PC users on Battle.net can now pre-load MW3 and Warzone Season 5 Reloaded. In the past few seasons and updates, Battle.net has consistently offered the earliest pre-load option. The platform is followed by PlayStation, which provides pre-load access at least 24 hours before an update goes live.
The preload feature is beneficial, allowing you to download and install an update in advance so that when it goes live, you can jump straight into the action without delay. It is especially useful this time as the Season 5 Reloaded update is massive, exceeding 100 GB. This article outlines its precise pre-load size for PC users on Battle.net.
What is the pre-load size for MW3 and Warzone Season 5 Reloaded on PC (Battle.net)?
The Call of Duty MW3 and Warzone Season 5 Reloaded update has a pre-load size of 110.70 GB on PC (via Battle.net), making it the largest patch to date. Typically, seasonal and mid-season updates range between 20-35 GB across all platforms, but this one stands out due to its significantly larger size.
Despite the massive size, there’s ample time to download the update before it goes live on August 21, 2024, at 9:00 am PT.

Why is the pre-load size for MW3 and Warzone Season 5 Reloaded so massive?
The pre-load size of the MW3 and Warzone Season 5 Reloaded update is approximately 110 GB due to major UI changes in Call of Duty HQ.
In a blog post released on August 15, 2024, the developers outlined their roadmap upto the launch of Black Ops 6. They highlighted significant optimizations to the COD experience, including a complete reorganization of game content alongside UI changes.
The new UI will feature a "landing zone," showcasing top content on a single, clean page without requiring players to scroll, thereby allowing easier access to new and highlighted content.
This update will go live before the launch of Black Ops 6, initially featuring Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone.
Additionally, with all COD titles integrated into COD HQ, the developers have streamlined access by reorganizing game files and separating Warzone from the default download of annual titles.

Expanded texture streaming technology will further reduce file sizes by cycling out less-used content into a streaming cache instead of storing it directly on the device. As a result, older content may temporarily appear at lower quality until the streaming cache fully loads. The visual quality can be adjusted based on two settings:
- Optimized (Default): High-fidelity graphical quality with increased internet bandwidth usage.
- Minimal: Reduced graphical quality with lower internet bandwidth usage.
These major changes are the reason behind the massive preload file size. The developers have assured that while this download will be substantial, it will pave the way for a better experience when Black Ops 6 arrives.
