Activision has banned over 65,000 accounts on MW3 and Warzone amid hacking issues over the week. Since the Season 5 update, players have reportedly seen a rise in the number of cheaters in both Ranked Play and casual lobbies. Fans have attributed the phenomenon to Modern Warfare 3's arrival on Xbox Game Pass, which took into effect in the latest season.

In response to frustrations and complaints, Activision banned thousands of accounts across MW3 and Warzone and even purged the Ranked Play leaderboards.

Activision purges Ranked Play leaderboards to solve hacking issues in MW3 and Warzone

On August 3, 2024, RICOCHET anti-cheat announced that they banned over 65,000 accounts over the week in response to the surge of hackers in MW3 and Warzone.

The announcement was made on X, via the official Call of Duty updates account, @CODUpdates:

"The RICOCHET Anti-Cheat team has now purged the Ranked Play leaderboards in both Call of Duty: Warzone and #MWIII, banning accounts for cheating and boosting."

The team reportedly improved its cheat vendor enforcement, resulting in the mass ban across all game modes, ranked or non-ranked, in MW3 and Warzone.

Earlier this week, players reportedly encountered a significant rise in hackers, deeming matches unplayable. Amid the speculations that most of the cheaters are playing the games via the Xbox Game Pass, RICOCHET clarified that their system "is able to detect the specific platform for all users."

Activision then deployed a system to differentiate Xbox and PC players from those playing the games via Game Pass. The team vowed to fix the issue and has banned and purged the leaderboards since then.

Players should now be able to enjoy the titles free from hackers. Activision encourages players to report related incidents should the cheaters persist.
