Call of Duty fans might be glad to hear that Black Ops 6 is not adding the weapons they've hated the most in the past four years. As the release time for the much-awaited title is drawing near, Activision has released several new blogs containing all the details that fans need to know regarding Black Ops 6. One blog revealed all the weapons coming to Black Ops 6, and some fans would be excited to know that the Riot Shield will not be a part of the game at launch.
Read on to learn more about the Riot Shield not being on the weapon list in Black Ops 6.
Riot Shield will not be in the Black Ops 6 weapon roster at launch
According to the official blog post, Black Ops 6 won't feature the Riot Shield as a weapon. If you are unaware of what the weapon is, it's a big shield that deflects bullets, and players usually use a melee weapon with the Riot Shield in the game.
If you are a veteran Call of Duty player, you'd definitely know that the Riot Shield has been one of the most controversial weapons for the last four years. Primarily introduced in Modern Warfare (2019), the weapon has become an integral part of Warzone since 2020.
As the battle royale gained popularity, the weapon became famous, but not in a good way. While some might argue that it's a skill gap, a large part of the community believes using an overpowered shield in an FPS game encourages frustrating gameplay and unfair fights in general.
As a result, it seems like Activision has listened to the fans and decided not to add Riot Shield in Black Ops 6. However, there is a chance that the weapon might be added later as post-launch content in Warzone and Black Ops 6. Furthermore, Warzone players shouldn't feel much joy regarding this news, as the Riot Shield from Modern Warfare 2 will still be there as carry-forward content.
