Black Ops 6 Ranked Play was released on November 21, 2024, and experienced cheaters within hours of launch. The Call of Duty franchise has a notorious history of suffering from cheaters, but the anti-cheat manages to make gameplay secure most of the time. Unfortunately, for Ranked Play in Black Ops 6, the circumstances are different.

Currently, Black Ops 6 Ranked Play allows cross-platform gaming, so console players are forced to play on the same servers as PC players. This exposes them to cheaters using aimbots and wallhacks to get their way.

This article will further explore the cheater issue in Black Ops 6's Ranked Play.

Black Ops 6 Ranked Play gets bombarded by cheaters on the very first day

Black Ops 6 Ranked Play was released with crossplay active. This means that console players have to go up against PC lobbies where cheaters are, unfortunately, common. However, there are two surprising things about the current situation.

Firstly, Ranked Play was released mere hours ago, and it is perhaps too fast for the game to already have cheaters. Secondly, the absence of the Killcam makes it easier for them to get away with their unfair ways.

Popular streamer LunchTime took to X to upload a clip where a cheater was blatantly seen using aimbot and potentially wallhacks. The opponent could flawlessly predict LunchTime's position, and lock on to targets in the blink of an eye.

This is just one of the many instances of cheaters in the lobby. Even professional COD icon, OpTic Dashy, went through a similar ordeal as he faced cheaters in his lobby in Black Ops 6 Ranked Play in Season 1. Hackers often use multi-PC rigs where a separate setup runs the hacks, making it almost impossible for Ricochet's anti-cheat system to make a difference. However, many players also doubt the effectiveness of the BO6 anti-cheat in the first place.

Perhaps turning off cross-play could protect console players from cheaters in PC lobbies. However, a more long-term solution would likely serve the player base better.
