Black Ops 6 will allow its players to equip three weapons at once, one of which will be a Melee weapon. This was disclosed in the inaugural episode of Call of Duty's official podcast COD POD, where Treyarch, the studio behind the upcoming Call of Duty entry, discussed that in Black Ops 6 players will be able to equip three weapons to their loadouts, i.e., a Primary, Secondary, and Melee weapon.
We dive into this information and explore how it affects the game.
Black Ops 6 will have a dedicated Melee weapon slot
As stated, in Black Ops 6, players will be able to equip three weapons to the loadouts. In the podcast, it was shared that the shooter will feature a dedicated Melee weapon slot. This will enable players to equip three weapons at once.

Matt Scronce, the Associate Director of Design at Treyarch, said the following in the podcast when asked about their new dedicated Melee weapon slot,
"If we think about Black Ops agents, we just think about who they are, they are always going to have a Melee weapon on them. It may not be a knife or sometimes it's a baseball bat."
He also expanded on the dedicated melee weapon slot:
"We just like the idea of not having to give up a Secondary to take a Melee weapon. So, every player will have access to a dedicated Melee weapon, and you will have a few to choose from at launch."
But that's not all, more Melee weapons will be added to the title as Seasons progresses. They also added that these Melee weapons this time around have been subject to a lot of tuning so players don't abuse them to get quick kills.
Most FPS titles like Valorant, Battlefield, and Counter-Strike have a dedicated Melee weapon slot. However, the feature was not seen in the CoD franchise and will be a first for the series with Black Ops 6.

With this incoming feature, players will no longer have to compromise for a Melee weapon over a Secondary such as a Handgun or Launcher. For instance, players will now be able to equip an Assault Rifle, a Handgun, and a Knife all at once with no compromises.
That covers everything you need to know about the dedicated Melee slot in Black Ops 6.
