Microsoft reports higher revenue for the third quarter
The third quarter in the Microsoft gaming division has been marked by impressive gains with revenue of $5.45 billion, of which $1.9 billion has been attributed to titles released by Activision Blizzard. Microsoft’s revenue marked an increase of 51% over the year.
The latest earnings release unveiled Activision Blizzard's pivotal role in Microsoft's gaming revenue growth, with the gaming juggernaut generating a substantial $1.97 billion. However, despite the robust revenue figures, Activision Blizzard reported an operating loss of $350 million.
Microsoft’s Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood has expressed her satisfaction and praised the performance of Activision titles, particularly Call of Duty. Without Call of Duty’s performance in the market, Microsoft’s financial results would decline by 4% from the previous year.
These strong performances from Activision titles also resulted in Xbox’s content and service revenue increasing by a staggering 61% over the year.
