Call of Duty has temporarily disabled all timeout penalties in Warzone Ranked Play, which players receive when they disconnect from a match. This also applies to all players' Skill Ratings, which will remain unaffected temporarily for leaving Ranked Play games in Warzone. Before this update, any player who disconnected from a Ranked Play match would face 15-minute suspensions and lose a few SR points. However, after the update dated January 9, 2025, that will no longer be the case.

Why did Call of Duty disable timeout and SR penalties in Warzone Ranked Play?
Call of Duty has disabled timeout and Skill Rating penalties in Warzone Ranked Play due to crashing issues. Before the latest update went live, WZ Ranked Play received many reports of a severe issue: the game would crash while loading into a match. Players would not only lose their Skill Ratings but also get a timeout penalty as the game assumed the player disconnected.

However, the fault wasn't of the players but rather the game itself. Fortunately, before more damage could be done, the developers disabled all timeouts for the time being. Hence, until these crashing issues are fixed in the shooter, players will not receive any timeout or Skill Rating penalty for disconnecting.

However, this doesn't mean players can leave the match after it has begun without consequences. Call of Duty has clearly stated that these penalties will still apply if players leave the match after the pre-game lobby.
This means only players who are truly affected by the crashing problem won't receive these penalties since the crashes occur before the pre-game lobby in Warzone Ranked Play.
