Fans may not see Boston Breach in the next Call of Duty League season due to the looming threat of its parent company, shutting down. Oxygen Esports, the organization handling the Boston-based team, is reportedly ceasing its operations effective immediately, leaving several esports teams across different competitive titles, hanging.

Boston Breach is composed of players Snoopy, Priestahh, Beans, and MajorManiak, as well as coaches Zed, Seany, and Magxck. The team finished last (12th) during the CDL 2024 season.

Boston Breach might exit Call of Duty League amid reports of parent organization shutting down

After more than two years as a competing team in the Call of Duty League, Boston Breach is reportedly bowing out of the competition amid reports of its parent organization, Oxygen Esports, shutting down. According to multiple sources, like CDL Intel, the company is in the process of laying off its employees and ceasing operations.

Players have also been requested to leave their apartments by August 8, 2024. This includes several teams competing in major Valorant, Rocket League, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty leagues.

The sudden decision to cease operations reportedly came after Oxygen Esports-owned Shift Summer League playoffs in Rocket League were suspended just minutes before its scheduled start date.

The event staff were also informed they would not be paid for their contributions and were encouraged to work for free.

While the Call of Duty League 2024 season has just ended, Boston Breach still has an upcoming match from August 15 to 19, 2024. The team is set to compete in the $1.8 million Modern Warfare 3 tournament in the Esports World Cup 2024.

At the time of writing, it is unclear whether the players will still participate in the event. However, it is likely that fans won't see the beloved organization competing for CDL next season.
