Recently, several leaks have revealed that the return of Verdansk is getting delayed in Warzone and the map won't be available until next year. While these leaks have been surfacing on the internet since last night, a recent report by Insider Gaming has shed some light on Call of Duty's massive change of plans regarding the battle royale FPS in the near future, and that too due to Fortnite OG.

While this might come as a surprise, the return of Verdansk has become a possibility due to Fortnite OG's massive success in 2023. This article contains all the information regarding why Call of Duty changed their plans mid-way and planned to bring back Verdansk in Warzone.

Verdansk's return in Warzone is reportedly inspired by Fortnite OG's success last year

According to inside information, Verdansk was never really a part of Call of Duty's plans for Warzone in the future. The leak suggests that the title was supposed to introduce a brand new big battle royale map called the Avalon. However, after Fortnite OG's massive success in 2023, Activision pushed back the release of the new map to the next Call of Duty integration, which will be after Black Ops 6.

Fortnite brought back Chapter 1 of the game in 2023 for fans to relive the memories of the popular title. The first map in the battle royale's history also came back with Fortnite OG, garnering a massive amount of players in a day. More than 44 million players were live, which was the biggest player count in the game's history.

Hence, Activision thought that bringing back the most beloved map in Warzone history will likely bring back a major chunk of players to Warzone. As of now, they are yet to say anything about the battle royale's future. However, we can expect a major reveal in the upcoming Call of Duty Next on August 28, 2024.
