In an article for Ampere Analysis, Piers Hardings-Rolls shared that he feels CoD 2024 Black Ops 6's debut on Xbox Game Pass might be the cause of concern for Sony and its PlayStation hardware.

He mentioned that Sony has previously revealed in its report that Call of Duty was one of the top franchises that generated over 50% of its storefront revenue in the last three fiscal years.

Per the analyst, Black Ops 6 coming to Game Pass may end up compelling more people to sign up for Microsoft's gaming subscription service. Also, most new subscribers may likely join the plans of Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.

Moreover, those who already own Xbox and PlayStation consoles may be attracted by the lower pricing for BO6 on Game Pass. As a result, they might even purchase an Xbox console, according to Piers Hardings-Rolls.

The analyst also emphasized that although Sony's PlayStation userbase will be affected by Black Ops 6 coming to Game Pass, the overall disruption won't be extreme because of the free-to-play Warzone live-service title. In the past, it could have been a scenario when most of the revenue came from premium sales of Call of Duty titles.

All things considered, the analyst believes the impact on PlayStation might not be huge, but it will be there. On the other hand, Microsoft is expected to get an edge in generating more profit with BO6 on Game Pass in the long run thanks to the inclusion of in-game bundles and other content.
