Treyarch has confirmed that the removal of Legacy XP tokens from Black Ops 6 was a deliberate decision. Players had initially discovered that they could use Legacy XP tokens, which were collected in previous games like Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III, in Black Ops 6. However, this feature was quickly patched out by the developer.

Now, the Legacy XP tokens are only usable in Warzone's Battle Royale or Resurgence modes. This sudden change has sparked a lot of discussion among players.

Official patch notes reveal Treyarch intentionally removed Legacy XP tokens from Black Ops 6

After the launch of Black Ops 6 Season 1, players noticed that their Legacy XP tokens were available for use in the game's menu. However, within just 24 hours, they were removed, and Treyarch issued a patch note clarifying the situation.

The patch note explained:

"Fixed an issue that incorrectly allowed legacy XP tokens to be activated in the Black Ops 6 UI."

This confirms that the inclusion of Legacy XP tokens in Black Ops 6 was not part of Treyarch's original plan.

Moving forward, players can only use Legacy XP tokens in a Battle Royale or Resurgence matchup in Warzone. In Black Ops 6, these tokens are now unavailable regardless of the mode.

The patch note also made it clear that the tokens were never intended to be a part of Black Ops 6 at launch. Regardless, players now won't be able to claim double XP or double weapon XP by playing Black Ops 6 Multiplayer or the Zombies Mode. The only way to take advantage of the tokens is to play Warzone.

Treyarch has not explained the reasoning behind this change. It’s unclear whether the developer has different plans for the tokens or if this decision was driven by technical or balance considerations.

Regardless, many players are upset by the unexpected move, as it has removed a feature they were looking forward to using across all modes in Black Ops 6.
