The new Black Ops 6 and Warzone patch, released on December 10, 2024, reduced visual recoil for all weapons. This interesting mechanic change made the gameplay drastically different for players on all platforms. However, renowned CoD pro, Dashy, who plays for OpTic Texas, did not seem too pleased with the said tweaks.
Responding to his disappointment with the new update, content creator ExoGhost said:
"Only controller players have a problem with this update. There's not a single KBM player who will complain about better visibility while shooting"
This article will briefly go over ExoGhost's reaction to Dashy's clip from one of the latter's recent streams.
ExoGhost speaks about reduced visual recoil changes in Black Ops 6 and Warzone
ExoGhost is a popular video-game content creator who often streams Black Ops 6 and Warzone on his Twitch and YouTube channels. The gamer has created quite an online presence after being active for several years. Recently, he reacted to a clip where OpTic pro, Dashy, expressed his disappointment with the new patch that reduced visual recoil in the games, with the latter saying:
"Is everybody shooting like this? Man, this is kinda sad. Sad day for skill."
ExoGhost believed that only console players would have a problem with the reduction of visual recoil, while keyboard and mouse players should have nothing to complain about.
The explanation for their statement is pretty straightforward. Keyboard and mouse users do not have features such as aim assist. They need to rely on their ability to see the targets clearly to shoot them down. With the reduced visual recoil, it's now easier for a KBM player to see their targets and shoot them accurately. Hence, the keyboard and mouse users have now nothing to complain about the visual recoil, according to ExoGhost.
As for controller players, they must rely on aim assist to an extent to play the game properly, which is why the feature exists only on controllers. The primary complaint that controller users now have, is that the reduction in visual recoil reduces the skill gap.
Since, players must rely on aim assist, having higher visual recoil added a layer of challenge, essentially creating a skill gap. Players who could manage the recoil of their gun and stick to their targets would come out on top of that gunfight. But with the reduction of visual recoil, this layer of challenge has been removed. This might pose a problem for controller players, who are going against mouse and keyboard users.
The Black Ops 6 and Warzone December 10, 2024 update introduced a plethora of other revamps that change weapon mechanics in the game. Factors like gun-kick, turn sway, and default idle sway, were all reduced along with visual recoil.
The developers at Treyarch aimed to improve the players' combat experience with these changes. However, not everyone may be pleased with them.
