The fan-favorite mode Plunder has once again been removed from Warzone. However, this time around it isn't due to the playlist rotation, which many fans had despised earlier. It has been removed due to performance issues, which tend to cause problems for players at the beginning of a match. The problem wasn't platform-specific. To resolve the issue at the earliest, the game mode has been disabled. This will allow the developers to investigate the source of the problems.
Why was Plunder removed from Warzone?
Call of Duty has removed Plunder from Warzone owing to performance issues. A post by @CODUpdates on X announced that the game mode has been disabled temporarily as players were facing several performance issues at the beginning of a match.
According to the report, the developers are currently investigating the reasons for the performance issues faced by players. Once a solution has been identified, a new patch should drop to bring the mode back. At the time of writing, Call of Duty is yet to provide any estimated date of arrival for the mode, so fans of Plunder have to be patient until the developers fix the issues from their end.
This isn't the first instance of Plunder being removed from the shooter. Despite it being a fan-favorite, Call of Duty keeps removing the game mode with the weekly playlist updates and bringing it back occasionally.
This has led to significant backlash from the community in the past as the fans want Plunder to be a permanent mode in Warzone. Unsurprisingly, players aren't happy with its removal this time either.

However, as mentioned earlier, it wasn't removed due to a playlist update this time, and the issue is much more serious as it was affecting the experience for all players.
In fact, Plunder was a part of this week's Warzone playlist and was supposed to be in the shooter at least till August 7, 2024. However, due to the unforeseen circumstances of players facing terrible performance issues, it was removed within just two days of being in the active pool of Season 5 Week 2.
That said, fans can rest assured that the mode isn't gone forever from the game. As soon as developers figure out the source of these performance issues, Plunder will return and fans won't likely have to wait till the next playlist update. However, depending on how problematic the issues are, their wait may be longer.
