Call of Duty has already announced that with the Black Ops 6 release, Warzone will be integrated into the upcoming title. With a new game on the horizon, Activision has already revealed how the carry-forward system will be featured in the upcoming iteration. Based on the official Call of Duty blog, Black Ops 6 will have a completely clean slate and will not feature any item from MW2 or MW3.
However, Warzone's carry forward system is a completely different scenario. All the weapons and items from MW3 and MW2 will be there in the CoD battle royale and the fans are not happy about it,
On a Reddit thread, a user named @Deranged1337 stated:
"I'm curious. Does anyone seriously want MW2&3 weapons in BO6 Warzone? can't think of anything worse than scrolling though 200 guns and 3000 attachments and that's not even the fact they all gonna get nerfed into the ground."
Warzone already has all the weapons from the current Call of Duty title and the previous one. With more weapons from Black Ops 6 joining the arsenal, it would be difficult for players to choose the best out of them. Furthermore, Activision tends to nerf the older weapons in Warzone and prioritizes the new ones. Hence, it will just take more space and make the situation complicated.
A user mentioned that Modern Warfare 2 guns and attachments "are already bad" and there is no option to filter them. With more guns coming to the game, it will be similar to the Vanguard integration in Warzone Pacific. Which eventually led to chaos.
Another user named @silenced_soul also explained:
"Much as I love some of the MW2 and 3 weapons, it’s a hard NO. More bloat in this game is bad. Already lags like f**k."
This means, that with more weapons in the game, it will require more storage/data. Warzone has already a bad reputation for performance issues. With all items and weapons from three games clunked together might increase in-game lags and bugs.
A user also explained that the community is "ready for a fresh start". According to them, it wasn't fun when the items got carried over in the MW3 integration.
Another user also wants Activision to keep the operator skins, but not the weapons. Last time when Warzone had a clean slate with the release of MW2. Players weren't happy as they couldn't retrieve their favorite skins from the previous iteration. Hence, the community wants CoD to find a way to keep the skins instead of weapons.
Will Warzone have a clean slate? Possibilities explored
Given Activision has already announced that Black Ops 6 Warzone will feature items from the previous games, it doesn't seem like Warzone will have a clean slate anytime soon.
Shedding more clarity on this matter was kastles1, who stated on the same Reddit thread:
"From what it looks like, you’re not getting your fresh start until 2026, when IW releases their next game. The next two games are going to be black ops games and I’m fairly certain that they’re going to carry over black ops six guns to the 7th, like mw2 to 3."
The next year's Call of Duty is also another Black Ops title. Hence, we can hopefully expect a complete clean slate in Warzone in 2026. However, that is just a speculation. Hopefully, Activision will reveal how the future of Warzone will look soon.
