Treyarch's upcoming Call of Duty title Black Ops 6 is likely to include numerous classic features and weapons from past COD installments. Based on an observation made by a curious player, BO6 may reintroduce an iconic throwable from the original Black Ops game — the Tomahawk.
This article will dive a little deeper into this rumor about the return of this throwable as part of CoD Black Ops 6.
Note: Players are advised to take early rumors and speculations with a grain of salt unless there's an official confirmation from developers.
Tomahawk from Black Ops 1 is expected to come back with Black Ops 6
An eagle-eyed CoD player, THIRSTY, recently shared a brief clip from the recent Black Ops 6 reveal. The footage suggests Treyarch may bring back Tomahawk, a throwable lethal equipment.
THIRSTY's clip is from the COD: BO6 Direct video, which was shown during the Xbox Showcase event on June 9, 2024, and has been provided below. Nine minutes and 50 seconds into this official video, one can see an Operator using the Tomahawk against an enemy.
This item was previously seen in titles like Black Ops 2 and 3, but it debuted in the CoD franchise as part of the first Black Ops installment in 2010. In that title, it was first seen in the Campaign mission Rebirth.
In this quest, Alex Mason picks up the item at the suggestion of Reznov to stealthily kill an enemy. After taking this foe out, Mason uses it again to kill a patrolling guard before discarding it and switching to a gun.
In Black Ops' Multiplayer, the Tomahawk was available to unlock at Level 4 and cost 2,000 COD Points. As a throwable weapon, it's similar to the iconic Throwing Knife. Simply put, it can instantly kill an enemy.
When it comes to most recent games, the Tomahawk was last seen in 2020's Black Ops Cold War. During the Campaign mission "Redlight, Greenlight," it was used by Bell as a piece of lethal equipment. In that title's Multiplayer experience, it was available to unlock at Level 32.
When it comes to Black Ops 6, it will be interesting to see if or when the developers will officially share an update about the Tomahawk's return.
