Call of Duty 2026 is reportedly at "standstill," and Activision is putting severe pressure on the developing team

Call of Duty 2026, which is rumored to be Modern Warfare 4, is reportedly at a "standstill" due to some issues in the development. Popular Call of Duty insider @BobNetworkUK has posted this report on X and revealed that the current developing team is not happy with the narrative and the mechanics of the game. According to several sources, Call of Duty 2026 will be developed by Infinity Ward. In the X post, the insider states,

"MW4 development is currently at a standstill; the team is seemingly unhappy with the narrative and mechanics of the game.

Furthermore, the insider also reveals that Activision is putting a lot of pressure on the developing team to make progress. While the title is yet to be confirmed by Activision, it is rumored that it's going to be Modern Warfare 4, and it will be a direct sequel to the current Modern Warfare saga.

Call of Duty 2026 will reportedly feature remastered maps from MW3.

In another X post, the insider has also revealed that Call of Duty 2026 will feature several remastered maps from the original Modern Warfare 3 title. We have already seen iconic maps from the OG Modern Warfare saga in the current Modern Warfare 3, and the community has loved every one of them. It seems like Activision wants to repeat the same blueprint that has worked so well this year.

Activision has previously hinted that the current Modern Warfare saga will continue, and the way Modern Warfare 3 ended, it is also evident that there is more to come. However, the FPS giant has yet to disclose it officially. Given that the recent report says Activision is putting severe pressure on the studio for Call of Duty 2026, we can expect the game to offer a plethora of content upon release. As for Call of Duty 2025, it will reportedly be another Black Ops title after this year.
