According to a report by @ForwardLeaksAlt on X, DMZ in Warzone is reportedly returning with Call of Duty 2025. The report was derived by datamining the game files, which revealed that COD hasn't abandoned their extraction mode and has more content planned for future entries in the series. This report has since been backed up by numerous other reputed data miners in the scene, claiming that the mode is far from dead.
DMZ in Warzone might be returning in Call of Duty 2025
DMZ in Warzone might finally receive the love moving forward with future Call of Duty games. Although not certain, reports claim the mode might return as early as Call of Duty 2025 but might get pushed to 2026. The report was then picked up by other leakers, with notable members like CODWarfareForum, who disclosed their findings via a post on X.
The screenshot shared by CODWarfareForum shows four lines of codes in the datamined files that read,
- veh_rex_dmz_trunk_open
- veh_rex_dmz_trunk_close
- veh_rex_dmz_hood_open
- veh_rex_dmz_hood_close
While these lines may not make sense to the casual gamer, according to the leaker they are hints that Call of Duty hasn't abandoned DMZ and has more content planned for the mode.
For those who are new to the series, DMZ in Warzone was introduced with Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and became a fan favorite immediately. Initially, the support for the mode was robust, with COD pushing updates and content frequently. However, the updates soon started slowing down and with MW3, the mode was left as is with no additional content. This caused outrage in the community as the developers had essentially let one of the most popular modes die out by limiting support.
To be clear, DMZ isn't removed from the game, but a lack of support and content has essentially rendered it deserted.
Fortunately, it now seems that DMZ in Warzone will be making a comeback and fans of the mode will finally be able to drop into the extraction mode with a plethora of new content. However, we still don't know much about the maps or new features that the upcoming iteration of the mode will see.

That said, do note that this report was derived from leaks and Call of Duty has yet to officially confirm or deny these details. Hence, fans are advised to take the news with a grain of salt.
