Call of Duty's DMZ, the fan-favorite extraction shooter mode might be permanently removed after the launch of Black Ops 6 on October 25, 2024. In a recent image leaked by @CODWarfareForum, it can be seen that there is no option to play the mode in the upcoming CoD HQ Menu. This indicates that the developers might permanently remove DMZ from Call of Duty completely.

Leaked Black Ops 6 CoD HQ Menu hints at complete removal of DMZ
The leaked BO6 Call of Duty HQ Menu image features four options: Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6 (codenamed "Cerberus"), and Warzone. The absence of DMZ suggests it won't be available to play after the upcoming game is launched.
A user in the comment box asked the leaker whether they could play DMZ after Black Ops 6, and @CODWarfareForum replied:
"Going from the menus it seems so."
Right now, DMZ is still available and completely free to play in the Call of Duty HQ. However, unlike 2023, the extraction mode is not a part of the Warzone experience anymore.
Infinity Ward revealed in 2023 that the mode will not receive live support anymore. The developer also stated that the mode not having cross-progression with Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone can be frustrating. The studio will use the knowledge it has gained from the DMZ experience and use it in future game modes.
The developer kept the mode alive as part of the HQ because the Modern Warfare saga is still ongoing, and there are some players who love to play it. However, it seems like this could change with Black Ops 6's launch.
