Speculations about Call of Duty 2024 (reportedly titled Black Ops Gulf War) being AI-made are making rounds online after a job post by Treyarch indicated that it needs AI expert artists and animators. Treyarch is the studio behind Call of Duty's Black Ops titles, including the in-development CoD 2024.

The job post mentioned Treyarch's interest in hiring artists proficient in generative AI tools. However, CoD fans were clearly not fond of the idea.

On April 27, film concept and artist Reid Southen (@Rahll) tweeted the company's job posting on his X account and said:

"Treyarch making it abundantly clear they have zero concerns about ethics, liability, or copyright with generative AI."

Popular CoD dataminer and leaker @ForwardLeaks weighed in on the issue and said:

"They dead*** are making Gulf War with AI."

Other players are also concerned about the game's development timeline. User @lilsex tweeted:

"Why are they looking for someone this late? Am i tweaking or was a game dropping this year?"

While several big-shot game companies are slowly embracing AI for game development, it appears that many Call of Duty fans still frown on the idea.

Treyarch job post suggests Black Ops Gulf War is being developed with AI

Treyarch is in hot waters after fans found a job post from the studio specifically looking for artists and animators who are AI-proficient. Call of Duty fans were quick to react to the post, expressing concern over the upcoming CoD title, Black Ops Gulf War.

Some even claimed that Treyarch is normalizing AI-produced art in the gaming industry the same way it normalized microtransactions. It wasn't a long time ago that Call of Duty was under fire for controversial pay-to-win bundles and tactical monetary schemes.

Treyarch has yet to comment on the issue. Meanwhile, Call of Duty 2024 or Black Ops Gulf War is slated to release in October 2024. Fans are expecting details about the upcoming game in the Xbox Showcase in June.
