The cheating issue in Warzone has worsened, with cheaters now reportedly exploiting overpowered perks that don't even exist in the game. This has caused frustration among legitimate players, who frequently encounter cheaters in matches. Even top professionals and streamers have voiced their concerns on social media, making it a significant challenge for developers to address.

In response to widespread backlash, the developers have announced significant updates to their anti-cheat system. However, these changes won't be implemented immediately and are scheduled to roll out with the Season 2 and Season 3 updates.

This article explores this new cheating technique and its potential impact on the game's future.

Warzone cheaters can now buy modded perks with overpowered abilities from hackers

Hackers are selling cheats primarily through Discord servers. A user on X, @NukeJesusYT, recently shared a screenshot from one such server where modded perks with overpowered abilities, unavailable in the game, are being sold. These perks can be used across all Warzone modes, including Ranked Play.

The modded perks are priced at $30 and include the following abilities:

  • Hunted: Highlights players in red up to 125 meters.
  • Specialist: Grants all in-game perks.
  • Speed Boost: Increases movement speed by roughly 25% and reload speed by 100%.

The rise of these modded perks will lead to a surge of hackers, and their availability is expected to worsen the situation further. Although the developers have announced significant upgrades to Ricochet — the anti-cheat system — these updates are slated for Seasons 2 and 3. With over 40 days remaining in Season 1 as of this writing, legitimate players are left to endure this frustrating state, potentially driving them away from the game.

These modded perks provide a significant advantage in gameplay. While they don't include features like aimbots, they still offer unfair benefits. With these perks active, players can pinpoint enemy locations, activate all in-game perks, and boost movement and reload speeds — features that can lead to game-breaking scenarios.

In response to the current cheating crisis, the developers have implemented and highlighted specific measures to address the immediate concerns. However, it remains uncertain whether cheaters using these modded perks can be easily identified and penalized. Here are the measures:

  • They are ramping up the pace at which cheaters are being punished, and accounts will be banned on an hourly basis.
  • They are cleaning up their in-game leaderboards and ensuring that the changes sync as quickly as possible.
  • They have expanded their "Replay Investigation render farm," which is essentially computers examining reported players to determine their authenticity. They have also increased the group size responsible for manual reviews.
