The Warzone Dev Error 6144 is one of the most common issues preventing users from playing the game. It can occur at any time; during a match, after a match, or even when trying to launch the game. In some instances, the error may even prevent the user from accessing the game. There are two primary reasons for this error to occur. The first is an issue with Call of Duty servers and the second could be the user's config.

Fortunately, if it's the latter, there are a couple of solutions that are known to fix the issue. Hence, if you are struggling with the error, this article will offer a closer look at some of the possible fixes for the Warzone Dev Error 6144.

How to possibly fix the Warzone Dev Error 6144

Before getting started with the fixes for the Warzone Dev Error 6144, make sure that the Call of Duty servers are up and running. If they are, it rules out any issue with Warzone servers so you can now try fixing the issue from your end.

The following are some of the possible fixes for the Warzone Dev Error 6144:

Reset game settings

The first thing that you should do is reset your in-game settings. Sometimes due to updates or settings mismatches, players might encounter the Warzone Dev Error 6144. It is pretty easy to reset the settings and you won't even have to uninstall the game. Here's how you can do it:

  • Close the game completely.
  • Open 'File Explorer'.
  • Go to 'Documents'.
  • Delete the folder 'Call of Duty'.
  • Now launch the game.

Doing so will create a fresh Call of Duty folder with default settings. You can then change the settings to your liking in-game.

Verify the game files

Once you have ruled out that the game's settings aren't the issue, you will need to check your game files next. Sometimes an improper install or update might break a few files, leading to a host of issues. Fortunately, all clients have a file verification system that will check the game files to ensure everything is in order.

If corrupt files are found, they will automatically repair the damaged files, and any errors should be resolved. Here's how you can verify the integrity of your game files on all clients:

Steam

  • Close the game.
  • Go to your Steam game library.
  • Right-click on Call of Duty and select ‘Properties’.
  • Click on ‘Installed Files’.
  • Select ‘Verify integrity of game files’.

Battle.net

  • Make sure the game is not running.
  • Go to the Call of Duty tab in Battle.net.
  • Click on the cog wheel next to the 'Play' button.
  • Select ‘Scan and Repair’.
  • Click on ‘Begin Scan’ and finally select 'Yes'.

Xbox App

  • Quit the game.
  • Launch the Xbox App.
  • Right-click on Call of Duty.
  • Click on 'Manage'.
  • Select 'Files'.
  • Finally, select 'Verify and Repair'.

Reinstall the game

A less than ideal solution but if none of the abovementioned fixes worked for you, a fresh install is highly recommended. Fortunately, you don't need to uninstall all the game files, which may include MW3 and DMZ. You need to just get rid of Warzone and reinstall it. If you are struggling to uninstall only Warzone, follow these steps that will work on all platforms:

  • Launch Call of Duty HQ.
  • Select 'Settings'.
  • Scroll down to 'Manage Files'.
  • From here, select Warzone.
  • Select 'Delay Uninstall' or 'Close game & proceed' depending on your preference.

That's it. Following the above steps will uninstall only Warzone so the rest of the games will still be available for you to play. Now, just install the game again from the store or from the 'Manage Files' section. This should resolve the Warzone Dev Error 6144.
