Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's primary character is John Price. The Modern Warfare sub-franchise, supplied to us by Infinity Ward, has seen numerous excellent characters come and go, but one has stayed consistent – Captain Price. Captain Price’s tale has been filled with challenges and tribulations since his first day with Task Force 141.

What happened to Captain Price in Call of Duty?

In 1942, Call of Duty players assisted Price in destroying a supply depot and obtaining some enemy papers. He then accompanied the player character to the defence of a town near El Alamein, cleared a minefield, and collaborated with the 7th Armoured Division to destroy some German ships. Price and his soldiers were finally assigned to guarding Pegasus Bridge after additional combat. Unsurprisingly, they were successful, even beating a tank. During the Normandy campaign, similar heroic acts happened, and Price was finally assigned to the SAS.

The Modern Warfare trilogy has some of the series' most famous campaigns, and Price is at the centre of some of the game's finest moments. Price initially appears on a flashback mission with Captain MacMillan as a sharpshooter to murder Imran Zakhaev. Price's shot was successful but merely severed the terrorist's limb, leaving Price to face him again some years later. Price and his pals tracked down Zakhaev after preventing his nukes from striking the US. Price slid the protagonist Soap MacTavish a handgun when Gaz and Griggs were both murdered. He then murdered Zakhaev to atone for Price's failure years before.

After completing this operation, Price and Soap were assigned to Task Force 141, led by General Shepherd. Price led the company on operations to apprehend Vladimir Makarov, the terrorist who would become the primary antagonist of the original Modern Warfare games. Price is imprisoned in the Gulag for three years after a botched raid. He was eventually rescued in 2016 and resumed command of Task Force 141. While Price's concentration shifts to killing General Shepherd for his betrayal, he returns to battling Makarov once the job ends.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 revealed that Makarov and Yuri (one of Price's new friends) were responsible for rescuing Zakhaev in 1996. This exacerbates Price and Makarov's blood hatred even more, and after several missions showcasing World War 3, the two have their ultimate showdown. Along the way, Soap dies, and Yuri sacrifices his life to save Price from Makarov. The campaign concludes with Price hanging Makarov, ruthlessly executing the guy who inflicted so much pain. As the game draws to a close, Price smokes his distinctive cigar, the Captain being the sole survivor of Task Force 141.
