With Black Ops 6 just around the corner, fans have been wondering whether the title will run at 120 FPS on Xbox and PS5. Both current-gen consoles are capable of playing games at 120 FPS, and all the recent Call of Duty installments released on them support such framerates. However, enhancements to the graphical fidelity in Black Ops 6 and no official statements from the developer have left fans in the dark about the upcoming title's performance.
Hence, in this article, we'll take a look at the possibilities of Black Ops 6 running at 120 FPS on Xbox and PS5.
Exploring the possibilities of Black Ops 6 running at 120 FPS on Xbox and PS5
Although Call of Duty's developer has yet to confirm, Black Ops 6 will likely run at 120 FPS on Xbox and PS5. Currently, the pre-orders for the shooter are live, and if you head over to its official store page on the Xbox Store, it is tagged "60+ FPS." This possibly hints that the game will feature a 120 FPS mode.
Moreover, the store page states that the game is optimized for Xbox Series S and X, which means that it should support up to 120 FPS right out of the gate. That said, however, there have been no mentions from PlayStation in this regard.
Both the Series X and the PS5 have similar computing capabilities. As such, one can speculate that if the titles support 120 FPS on the Series S (which is a toned-down version of the Series X), it should support similar framerates on the PS5.
It is also worth noting here that the last Call of Duty title from Treyarch, Black Ops Cold War, also featured a 120 FPS mode on both platforms. Moreover, the title will also be available on last-gen consoles, and hence achieving 120 FPS on new systems shouldn't be a problem at all.

That said, it is worth noting here that these are merely speculations. Call of Duty has yet to confirm the FPS modes that will be available on the current generation of consoles. Hence, these details must be taken with a grain of salt.
Fans who are truly eager to know the upcoming game's performance can hop into the BO6 Open Beta when it goes live. These brief beta test sessions will allow them to have a look at all the new as well as the returning features of the next Call of Duty installment on current-gen as well as last-gen consoles and PCs.
