The Call of Duty community is furious over the alleged influx of Warzone cheaters since the Season 5 update. In the latest season, Modern Warfare 3 was added to the Xbox Game Pass, a much-awaited title in the platform since Microsoft's acquisition of Call of Duty publisher, Activision. However, the excitement from the Game Pass arrival quickly died down as players saw a rise in Warzone hackers.
Many players seem to associate the issue with the arrival of MW3 to the Game Pass, with some even comparing it to the time when the number of cheaters was at an all-time high during the Verdansk era.
User @holy_shepard posted on X a short clip of a level 21 hacker that players have been spectating due to blatant cheating in Warzone. He said:
"Hackers in Warzone are reaching Verdansk levels of bad."
Even established names in the Warzone pro scene reported experiencing the issue in their lobbies. CoD content creator and former Warzone pro player @BobbyPoff took to X his frustration:
"SO Call of Duty being on Xbox game pass now just gives cheaters even more of an ability to run hacks without being detected?"
BobbyPoff reported running into a Warzone cheater equipped with multiple unreleased skins. The pro player, together with a couple of spectating players, apparently reported the hacker but nothing happened.
Pro player Brax from team OMiT weighed in on the issue and said:
"Hackers are worse than prime Verdansk. MP and WZ ranked are ruined by blatant aimbotters."
Even popular Call of Duty content creator JGOD tested the claims himself by spectating randoms in Warzone. He quickly found the speculations to be true posting the clip on X and saying:
"Cheaters in back to back matches after not spectating one in all of MWIII WZ."
Meanwhile, user @KapzLocked attempted to explain the logic as to why they think putting Call of Duty to Xbox Game Pass is a bad idea. In a tweet, KapzLocked said:
"When using a new email, game pass on PC is only $1 for the first month. That means the paywall for multi player of 60$ is no longer an issue. Thus meaning it only costs 1$ for a new account when they get banned. Until this is resolved cheaters are going to take over cod."
Despite the frustration of a huge chunk of the Warzone community, Activision has yet to comment on the ongoing issue of Warzone cheaters.
Players are frustrated with the increase of Warzone cheaters in Season 5
Just a couple of days after the MW3 Season 5 has rolled out, players have reported an influx in the number of Warzone cheaters. Fans claim that these hackers appear to be playing on Xbox Game Pass, as shown in the lobby logo.
Modern Warfare 3 has been added to the Xbox Game Pass titles on July 24, 2024. As part of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision, the tech company promised to bring all Call of Duty titles to the platform, making it more accessible to a wider audience.
However, fans claim that Warzone cheaters have resurfaced since the arrival of MW3 to the subscription service. This led players to suspect that Ricochet, Call of Duty's anti-cheat system, hardly detects hackers from the platform.
Fans are hoping for a swift resolution this time, although Activision has yet to acknowledge and address the issue of Warzone cheaters.
